Oasis of the Seas

  1. February 2 to February 8, 2025
  2. March 1 to March 7, 2026

Oasis Class / 6780 Passengers / Maiden Voyage: 2009; Amplified 2019 / Ports: Ft. Lauderdale, Coco Cay, Falmouth Jamaica, Labadee Haiti (no longer visiting in late 2025)

  • Other ships in this class:  Allure (2010), Harmony (2016), Symphony (2018), Wonder (2022) and Utopia (2024)
  • The Oasis Class has been a favorite.  In 2026, we are sailing Allure and Harmony for the first time, along with Oasis (and likely another Utopia for a 9th time)

Highlights of the Oasis Class

  • AquaTheatre, Boardwalk, Broadway Musicals, Carousel, Central Park, FlowRider, Ice-Skating Rink, Laser Tag, The Mason Jar (Bar with music), Zip Line

Cabins

We enjoy an ocean view balcony when possible.  However, the Central Park balcony provides a good alternative for a lower price.  We prefer to choose our own cabin, and we also avoid the noisier Boardwalk balcony when possible.

Entertainment

There’s a lot to see, and three non-port days to enjoy several performances.  Port days end no later than 5pm, so energetic folks still have time to enjoy a show or a variety of music each day, port or not.  (Pace yourselves!)

I can’t over-emphasize:  Arrive early for the Ice Show and grab front row seats.  It’s a completely different experience up front.

Ports - February 2025

  • Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean private island)
  • Falmouth, Jamaica
  • Labadee, Haiti (A Royal Caribbean private island); port stops suspended in late 2025

Photos - first is not a port - just a nice evening shot in Central Park; followed by Jamaica (2) and Haiti

Ports - March 2026

  • Nassau - it’s a crowded port, but needs to be explored once; RC now offers a special, private island, but at a price (expect prices to come down, as RC determines what the market will bear and begins to offer alternative packages; from observation and conversation, I’ve learned that the 20- and 30-something’s love the experience of the island, and don’t need to do a cost-benefit analysis.
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico - we’ve visited San Juan a few times and just take the opportunity to stretch our legs and re-supply at the local Walgreens, directly off the port (no photos here).
  • Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (provides a close-in shopping area, and an outside-the-gate experience; if the weather is good, we venture out:  walk past the somewhat aggressive tour providers (just trying to make a buck), and walk 15 minutes to the action on your own.  (Walking tour guides and taxis are also available.). There is plenty of shopping and a lovely umbrella street, with food and libation available.  The presence of security throughout the area, even to help with crossing the busy streets, makes us feel safe.  It’s not a problem to repeat “No thank you” to the dozens of shopkeepers who suggest you “lookie-lookie,” i.e., unless you want to lookie.

Will We Do It Again?

Maybe - the Oasis is an aging ship of this eponymous class, with equal or improved offerings available on newer ships Utopia (2024) and Wonder (2022).  But, given the right opportunity…

  • In early October, we received a nice offer and booked 3/1/26 - 6 nights out of Ft. Lauderdale.
  • Better choices for us are the Utopia and Harmony - both departing from Port Canaveral.  We’ve sailed the Utopia 8x since September 2024, and are scheduled to sail Harmony twice in 2026.
